Intensity of Light
The intensity of light is also referred to as quantity of light. That is the strength of light present in that particular area. This strength of light plays a crucial part in photography. Because if a photographer takes photos in a dark room that is the strength of light is too low, then the photographs will be underexposed. The underexposed photographs will look dark. If the photographer takes the photos in a brightly lit room then the photos look overexposed. Here the intensity of light is too strong so the picture looks more bright than normal photos. So it is important to capture the images at the right intensity of light, that is at the correct exposure. If correct exposure of light is not available then adjust camera settings to get the right exposure. In the case of highly intense light, keep the ISO low, increase the shutter speed, or aperture small. If the light intensity is low then keep ISO high, slow the shutter speed, or open up the aperture.
Quality of light
The light can be either hard or soft because of the shadows it produces. Soft light creates smooth photos without causing shadows. But hard lights creates photos of bright highlights and strong shadows. So if you take photographs on a bright sunny day or using spotlights you can see harsh shadows in the face. People prefer smooth photographs without any shadows. The photo shoot on a cloudy day or low light day we get photographs without shadow. The color temperature does not depend on the weather of the day. The light actually has a color and it varies in some conditions. For example, if the photograph was taken under a deep shade then the photos have a blue color shade. This color shade referred to as ‘cool’. If it is taken under the golden light of sunset then it is referred to as ‘warm’. These cool shot and warm shot have great intense in photography. To get quality images according to the accurate representation of scene you should adjust the white balance in the camera. The photographer must understand the color temperature and white balance.
